YMiC: Young Women In Computing

What Is YMiC?

YMiC stands for Young Women In Computing. It's at the NMSU or the New Mexico State University. It starts on July 11th.

Day 1

On the first day, I was SUPER excited. I wore a dress that went up to my knees and I wore a pretty, light pink hijab with it. When we reached the building, there were two women waiting. My dad came out of the car with me, and they lead us to the classroom. This is the layout of the seats:
First, we went outside to play a game. Here are the directions:

1) Everyone stands in a large circle.
2) Girl A starts. She says her name and something she likes. (EXAMPLE: Horses)
3) If Girl B likes horses, she takes one step into the circle.
4) However, if Girl C doesn't like horses, she doesn't take a step in and stays in her spot.
5) Repeat this process until you reach Girl A again.

After that, we went back inside and got started. I got to know this girl named Charly. She's super nice and I like her. We did a crossword puzzle together and it was fun.
Near the end of the day, they served us lunch. My favorite part were the nachos and cheese sauce.
What a day! I can't wait until tomorrow!!
